What works and doesn't work with this age group?

I'm trying to build up the collection in materials about young adults with disabilities. I'm having a hard time finding titles that aren't stereotypical or didactic. Can you recommend any good titles? I thought of The Ship Who Sang and Flowers for Algernon (which isn't a favorite of mine, but it's better than many.) The collection already has The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.
